    Wokingham ROSE STREET PLAYERS

“I ought to warn you that the author of this sick little play, Dario Fo, has the traditional, irrational hatred of the police common to all narrowminded left-wingers and so I shall, no doubt, be the unwilling butt of endless anti-authoritarian jibes”

Inspector Bertozzo, Central Italian Police HQ

Following on from their previous performances of Jim Cartwrights ‘TWO’ and Harold Pinter’s ‘The Birthday Party’ Wokingham Rose Street Players are proud to announce their forthcoming production:

    Accidental Death of an Anarchist
    By Dario Fo

Written by Italian playwright, actor, satirist and former politician Dario Fo, Accidental Death of an Anarchist is a hysterically sly and caustic slapstick farce inspired by a real-life event involving a man accused of a crime who “fell” from the window of a police station.

Filled with physical and linguistic acrobatics, Accidental Death of an Anarchist embodies the modern Fo-brand of commedia theatre that has helped define him as a playwright of the people.

In awarding Fo the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1997, the Prize committee called him:

“A writer who emulates the jesters of the Middle Ages in scourging authority and upholding the dignity of the downtrodden.”
