Calling All Retired People In The Wokingham District
It has never been a better time to be a retired person living in the Wokingham district and the range of activities, services and advice available to them will be on show at open Wokingham events throughout March.
The ‘March with Wokingham’ roadshows, organised by Wokingham District Council, Wokingham Primary Care Trust and partner organisations, will be appearing around the district during the month of March with displays and professionals on hand to help and guide those wanting more information on how to enjoy life to the full during retirement.
At the Wokingham roadshows, advice on how to live safely and avoid accidents in the home, details of leisure and sport activities especially tailored for retired people and loads of other useful information will be available. Amongst those attending will be experts from the University of the 3rd Age, the Princess Royal Trust, the British Red Cross, the Patient Advice and Liaison Service and the Fire & Rescue Service to name but a few. Along with an array of display boards, demonstrations such as yoga and head massages will take place. And free energy saving light bulbs, fire safety checks and smoke alarms will also be on offer.

Cllr Bob Wyatt, Wokingham council’s champion for older people, said: “The March with Wokingham events promise to be both enlightening and fun. Speaking as a retired person myself I can say first hand that there are so many ways to occupy your retirement years, especially in the Wokingham district. The roadshows aim to give useful information and are especially targeted at those retired people who are unaware of what is available to them. I hope that all retired or soon to be retired people and indeed anyone who knows a retired person make a note of these dates in their diaries. Everyone is welcome to drop in at any of these events.”
