REME Museum of Technology ~ ‘Big Draw' Workshop

‘The Big Draw' Workshop

Make It ‘n' Take It Club

You don't have to be a budding Picasso, Turner or Hockney to join in the drawing fun at the REME Museum of Technology's ‘Big Draw' Workshop.  Come and draw objects from our collections using your hands and feet!  Use your sense of touch to explore an object we've hidden in a bag then try drawing it!  Draw your skeleton and turn it into a BIG drawing!  Design a new capbadge for the REME Corps using scrapaboard or draw a self portrait of yourself wearing a soldier's uniform. ‘The Big Draw' Make It ‘n' Take It  (MINTI) Workshop is happening at the REME Museum of Technology on Sunday 17 October at 10.30am - 12.30pm or 1-3pm.

‘The Big Draw' Workshop is the fifth of six MINTI Club Sunday Workshops this year.   Every child attending a MINTI Club workshop gets a MINTI Club Reward Card. We'll stamp your Reward Card at each workshop: collect 3 stamps for a MINTI Club certificate, collect 6 stamps and you've won a reward!

Booking is essential (places are limited).  Admission to Workshop is £6 per child with adults free.  All children must be accompanied by an adult; younger children will need parental assistance with the activities.  Activities are suitable for 5 - 12 year olds.

National Childbirth Trust ~ Nearly New Sale

KIT OUT THE KIDS FOR NEXT TO NOTHING

– ‘NEARLY NEW’ SALE IN Wokingham

Mums and Dads can kit out their children with virtually brand new clothes and accessories at a fraction of high street prices, thanks to the Wokingham & District branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) Europe’s largest pregnancy, childbirth and parenting charity.

A Nearly New Sale of clothes, toys and accessories for babies, toddlers and children will take place on Saturday 2nd October in The Holt School, Holt Lane, Wokingham at 11.30 am. Parents are welcome to come along to shop for maternity wear, baby, toddler and children’s clothes, toys, videos and equipment including cots, high chairs and prams.

Mel Horton, Spokesperson of the Wokingham & District branch of the NCT, explained:

"All parents want the best for their children but many of us simply can't afford the latest 'must have' item on the market as well as all the everyday clothes an active child can get through. The cost of kitting out a child for the first five years can run to thousands of pounds. Once babies & children grow parents can find their loft space crammed with hardly used clothing and equipment. Our sales offer them the opportunity to pass on their useful items to other parents - high street quality at knock-down prices."

NCT Nearly New Sales give parents the chance to buy everyday necessities like vests, jeans and T-shirts for their children. They can also find items such as coats and clothing for special occasions, as well as toys and other accessories including cots, highchairs and prams - all for a fraction of their retail price. The sales are intended to ease the strain on the childcare budget of the average family by offering parents a more economical alternative to buying new.

All proceeds raised from the event help fund local and UK wide campaigns such as improving maternity care, training antenatal teachers and funding breastfeeding counsellors who promote the health benefits of breastfeeding.

The sale will take place on Saturday 2nd October 2004 between 11.30am and 1pm at The Holt School in Holt Lane Wokingham (Entrance £1). For enquiries please call 07005 802014.
